Hi!
New to the forum and just bought my first real scope. I,ve been using Mitutoyo objectives, with a tube lens,M42 tubes, attached to an MJKZZ ultra rail for quite awhile, both in horizontal and vertical orientation.
Camera attached, and usually focus stacking.
This however is kinda new to me. The scope is in really good condition, and got if off E-bay in Canada where i live.
It has both reflected, and transmitted light, adjustable bottom polarizer, top analyser, and x2 Nomarski prisms for DIC. 1 in the condenser, and the other is a slider in the turret.
Dont know how effective this will be for different objectives.
Came with a x5,x10,x40,and a x50 objectives, unbranded L M Plans. Eyepieces are 10x18,and the stage is short arm,and the wrong slide holder.
SO! Seems i will need the proper long arm stage with proper holder( on the way from E-bay )
Wider field eyepieces in better shape than the ones i have.
Objectives= Looking to upgrade to at least Plan Neofluor , mainly for photography as the the plans exhibit a lot of color fringing.
There seems to be quite a few for RMS thread which i have.
Newer E.C. i believe have M27 thread,so would need adapter?
If i stick to the RMS older objectives, there seems to be quite a few phase contrast out there.
I dont have a phase contrast condenser,so could i still use them for DIC, and brightfield without taking too much of a hit in quality?

Re: Zeiss Axioskop.
Congrats on a nice scope! Looks like it's meant for reflected light--is it set up for reflected DIC?
Odd to have third party objectives on a Zeiss. The very different corrections and focal length usually preclude it, though I've seen at least one Chinese copy of a Zeiss objective offered for sale (no word on how zeiss compatible it actually was though, just copied looks and base specs). Do they perform OK? Do they give the magnification they say on the side?

Re: Zeiss Axioskop.
Thanks very much!
Pretty much only used it for transmitted light so far,so not sure if i have all the components needed for reflected DIC.
Dont know much about scopes.
The objectives are not very good for photography. Tons of color fringing, and dont appear that sharp, probably due to incompability with this system.
I am on the hunt right now for Zeiss Plan NeoFluors with RMS thread.
Want to get at lest a x10, x20, and a x40 for now.
On my other focus stacking system i,m spoiled using only Mitutoyo M Plan Apos.
I have a proper stage coming and am looking for a few eyepieces!
