Zeiss Standard 15 with DIC
Zeiss Standard 15 with DIC
My latest acquisition has arrived!
This Zeiss 15 has an excellent binocular viewing body but both 10X WF eyepieces have delamination around the edges. It has a built in flip in analyzer which is in excellent shape. The four objective turret came with three DIC objective holders with the fourth empty. The DIC objective holders have a Plan 40X 0.65, Achro 40X 0.75 (which is used for the 40X water immersion objective) and a Plan 100X 1.25 DIC slides. The main reason for my purchase was for the 100X slide but the 40X WI slide was a surprise bonus. The two 40X slides have some edge delamination but still usable and the 100X was perfect. It came with a Plan 10X 0.22, Plan 40X 0.65 and Plan 100X 1.25 objectives which are clean and optically excellent. The mechanical stage and specimen holder work very well and the coarse/fine focus works well and the condenser holder has a fixed polarizer in excellent shape as well as a nice auxillary lens. The condenser is the newer DIC type prism I which is for 16 and lower objectives and the prism II for 40X and higher objectives and the III position is empty. I have never seen a III prism for this DIC model condenser. Both prisms are in excellent condition. There is also the Brightfield position and two Phase positions, Ph2 and Ph3. The field iris is the 6 blade type, but works well. There is a 6v 15w light and a 6-12V power transformer which both work well.
After a bit of minimal cleanup and adding a Plan 16X:

Very nice.
That is news to me. Interesting.Achro 40X 0.75 DIC slide (which is used for the 40X water immersion objective)
Zeiss Standard WL (somewhat fashion challenged) & Wild M8

Very nice, Charles!
I have not heard of DIC objective slide for 40x 0.75 WI either. That is very interesting.
Maybe it can be used with LOMO 40x 0.75 WI objective too? The Zeiss 40x 0.75 is probably a DIN type though, while LOMO has 33 mm pfd. But does it matter?
I know Zeiss offers 63x 0.9 WI (dipping) objective too, is there a suitable DIC set for that?
Also, LOMO offers additional interesting (and affordable) water immersion objectives, such as 30/0.9, 65/1.1, 70/1.23 and 60/1.0 (dipping). My dream would be having DIC for those objectives. Maybe PZO DIC set can work for LOMOs, as long as NA is a match (I know PZO can work with Nikon DIN oil objective).

Congratulations Charles! That is awesome! It was hard keeping my mouth shut while you were waiting for delivery.
Re: Zeiss Standard 15 with DIC
Thank you all!
I already have the 40X 0.75 WI objective so getting the DIC slide for it was a surprise. I didn't know they had one for it. They also have the 40X 0.60 slide for the LWD 40X 0.60 objective used on the inverted scope (I have that one too ). Makes me wonder what other DIC slides they have for the 160mm TL scopes?

Re: Zeiss Standard 15 with DIC
Charles, I really appreciate your taking the time and effort to share your collection and acquisitions with us. Besides just plain fun eye candy to gaze at, I get to learn new things all the time, often things I most likely never would otherwise like the flip in analyzer. So thanks man, I'll hoist a toast to you tonight -- happy new year!
Cheers,

Charlie, there are a lot of Zeiss I don't have. That one looks interesting but not at that price.
