Dressing up the BH-2
Look at what the mailman brought today!
Thanks to forum member Einman for remembering me when he happened across this superb BH2.SW Super Widefield trinoc for my BH-2, complete with SWHK eyepieces!
Everything is in great shape, and "super" is the perfect word to describe it. I understand that I'll need to upgrade to SPLAN objectives to take full advantage of the extra wide field capability, but even with the DPLANs I get a larger field of view than with the stock binocular head.
By the way, that's just a regular eyepiece from the binoc stuck in the photo port, mainly to keep the dust out.

Enjoy it! When I saw it I jumped on it right away.,.. I knew you would like it.

Looks like a beauty. Congratulations. Be sure to share stories of its adventures.
Re: Dressing up the BH-2
Great find! Congratulation!
It's surprising that the "super" head does not look big at all, but rather very well balance on the scope.
Not like when I put the regular BH2 trinocular head on my BHMJ, or the newer Zeiss (white) trinocular on a GFL: the scopes look like...ET!
30 mm eyepieces are also very tolerable at 15x or 20x range. This should open up a lot for you!

Re: Dressing up the BH-2
Thanks for all the comments!
I have played around with taking photos with a couple of cameras (the AmScope USB camera and an Olympus E-P1 that I stole from Gekko), and so far I have gotten some pretty bad banding in the photos, both cameras. I can minimize it, but not totally get rid of it. I'm still working on that.
I have been spending a lot of time reading through the "connect camera to microscope" threads here on the forum and elsewhere, lots of information to soak up on this subject.
If I get any photos that don't look like they were taken by a nearsighted chimpanzee I'll post a few.

Re: Dressing up the BH-2
I take it that the banding is visible in stills, not just videos? If so, could it be that what you are seeing is the image of the lamp filament under conditions of very low numerical aperture (assuming that the filament is properly focused on the back focal plane of the objective)? It would certainly help if you would show us an example.
(I guess I'll have to make sure that my door is always locked from now on ).

A LED with PWM?
Will have a look at my LED controller this weekend, see if dims nicely and avoids banding. Will let you know.
