Here is the oldest microscope in my collection, a 1916 Bosch & Lomb next to my newest, a Zeiss Axioskop.
Looks like a Spad parked by an F-18.

Finally got around to cleaning this one up. Beyond me why universities insist on putting tape on microscopes. I can only get this one to do brightfield, but it's the best brightfield I've ever seen.
Promise some pix later.

Axioscopes are good machines. You have what looks like late 80s or early 90s sample. The first series share material and craftsmanship quality with late gray line scopes. Very servisable, but I lament the internal power source for the illiminators. I prefer the external units due to ease of repairs and replacement. The older scope is a very typical clinical scope from the 1930s era. Every manufacturer had one, and they remained work horses in the labs for the next 50 years or so. In fact you still see these scopes in some teaching labs and clones are still made.
