Hi together,

a while ago I bought this rare LOMO microscope. I got it as a by-catch with a rare Zeiss Jena Photo head (the one to fit a binocular head plus photo tube). It obviously has been customized to someones needs with binocular tube and photo head from Zeiss Jena, Zeiss West KPL eyepieces, a stage of unknown german origin and a DIY LED light.

The microscope is quite interesting:

- Circular dovetail on objective turret (unlike longitudinal dovetails on Biolam and Zeiss Jena)
- Fine focussind knobs with overload protection
- Interesting mirror adjustment for the light path
- Big non standard stage with low adjustments
- Swing in lens with frosted surface
- Two part condensor - the head is fixed to the diaphragm by means of the magnets
- custom black paintjob

I gave the microscope a short try today. The centering of the light path was easy an the illumination was even. The position of the LED is probably not perfect yet. There could be a bit more dampening in the xy-stage. Overall the instrument works very well. The craftmanship is not as good as that of 1960s Zeiss Jena scopes. It is more like that of the angular Biolam models, while the old round Lomos were nearly as nicely made as the contemporaty microscopes from Jena.

Does someone have a model name for it? Thank you for the identification, Francisco!

Bob

(Edited with corrections)

Very nice! On mine the LOMO logo is on a small tag to the left of where the lamp house connects to the main body. Does yours have this? If so there might be a model number there also.
Maybe it has been painted over.
