Thanks. I had not looked until you mentioned it, but he does have quite a selection, and it looks like some custom made adapters too.

Just so I am clear on the plan, I will need a T- Mount microscope adapter like this one to house the eyepiece on top of the photo tube correct?

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/111899656454

If I may for what it's worth, I would like to add that I just got the Lee #124 filter recommended by zzffnn, and I compared it with the Nikon GIF interference filter using my inexpensive hand spectroscope. Here is what I got (but this is my approximate impression, and the numbers give only a rough idea):
LED light source spectrum: 440 nm to 680 nm
Lee #124:  485 nm to 650 nm
Nikon GIF: 490 nm to 630 nm

So they both have quite a wide passband from blue up to and including orange and red. They probably attenuate the blue and red but I cannot tell visually by how much. They do cut off the extremes of the spectrum, but I expected the GIF to have a very narrow passband centered around 540 nm or so, and I was rather skeptical that the Lee gelatin filter would be any better and in fact it appears to have a slightly wider passband than the GIF.

gekko,

I was discussing with Dave Jackson about using Lee filters for fluorescence a few days ago. Dave said a single Lee filter won't cut off enough for good fluorescence - there will be some 5% of leakage, which is detrimental for fluorescence (very low signal/noise ratio), but good enough for green light filtration. He said stacking a few Lee filters may help fluorescence, if light source is strong enough.

So depending on the sensitivity of your spectroscope and your light source's power, it may be able to detect that 5% or so leakage from the Lee filter and that of Nikon GIF.

And it is more about amount of light leakage, rather than spectrum width - I would worry more about high leakage (say 15%) over a narrow unwanted band, than very low leakage (say 2%) over a wide band - but amount and width is related to some extent, depending on the graph, especially at extremities.

I would be surprised if the Lee filter outperforms the dedicate Nikon GIF too. If you read my original posts again, I did express doubts as to why the Nikon GIF wouldn't be good enough for green filtration. Maybe your spectroscope is too sensitive?

For green filtration, some 5%-10% leakage may be OK. Some green filters, including those from Lee (if one picks a wrong one), have as high as 15%-20% leakage. I know you got (the correct) #124 though.

I made a new acquisition of a set of American Optical Bright Phase Objectives and before putting them into service lined them up for a photo session. I kind of like the results, so here they are.

Hey Dale, your monitor is upside down!

That is very cool, I'm flattered. If you would a more dense file, let me know, that is a lot of screen to cover!

Thanks
