My New Microscope

#1 Post by bcjolly » Sun Aug 04, 2019 10:26 pm

Just bought this American Optical series 20.

Would appreciate any thoughts, positive or negative, concerning this instrument. I'm new to the forum and have read every post I could find concerning AO microscopes and accessories. Hope you enjoy. Thanks!
Regards,

Very good! There are a lot of AO experts on the forum if you need help. Parts for your scope are not horribly expensive on ebay either so upgrading is not too hard.

Quite complete and seems to have been well cared for. Has been fitted with either of the he 1980 's #1021 or 1121, 10x objective too.The original #1019 10x planachro dates back to 1963 or so and doesn't have the level of off axis definition and freedom from lateral aberration and distortion of a modern plan objective. 1021 is a noticeably superior design.
