My "new" Leitz Laborlux(?) POL circa 1960, 2 questions

#1 Post by geo_man » Mon Sep 30, 2019 5:01 pm

Hi all, I bought this very nice scope to expand my hobby into petrography. I just set it up and centered the objectives and all is good so far!

I have 2 questions someone might be able to answer.

1) Red arrow in attached pic: this is the Bertrand lens control I believe; there seems to be 3 settings, in, out and "half-in"?. What is 3rd setting used for?

2) Blue arrow in attached pic; what is this slider/adjuster for? Seems to be related to the Bertrand lens (focus)?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Thanks "75". Some great Leitz documentation out there!

I figured out that the lower "arm" engages and focuses the Bertrand lens. The upper dial engages a "pinhole diaphragm". Still working to figure it all out. Cheers!
