Hi,
I am a beginner in microscope but passionate about photography.
As hobby, i would like to start to study microbiology and I am specially interested in bacteria.
I am testing a binocular microscope from Amscope (250$) but i have the opportunity to buy a Leica DM300 with achromatic or planar lens.
Would i feel the difference in image quality ? Would the planar lens give me an extra benefit?
The tech specs of the Leica Dm300 are :

If I decide for the Leica DM300, I would buy the version with open eyetube ( the entry level version has integrated eyepieces) in a way I can attach a webcam or an adaptor for my Reflex camera. Do you have any advice for a webcam or an adaptor with a budget od 100-200$ ? The diameter of the eyepiece is 23mm
Thanks !!
Marco

Re: Educational Leica compound microscope DM300
Hi Marco and welcome,
1. For photomicrography, the best microscope (whatever brand) is a trinocular, not binocular. The camera can then be installed on the photo tube and not interfere with viewing through the eyepieces.
2. Please note, microscope brochures - especially for beginners - seldom present images of bacteria as demonstration of the capability and performance of the microscope. That is because bacteria are often a boring object. They are too small to see their exact form, let alone morphology.

Thanks, unfortunatelly i have a limited budget and Leica trinocular is probably out of my budget. If eyepiece are removable , it is pretty convenient and i can get with about 150$ a 3MP webcam from amscope that can fit the 23 mm eyetube.

Re: Educational Leica compound microscope DM300
However my primary question is still...would i notice the difference between an entry level Leica (Dm300), in the range of 1000$, and the chinese Amscope binacular microscope (B120c) that cost 230$ ?
