Olympus Vanox
Olympus Vanox
Hello! I have an Olympus Vanox with all sorts of lenses and a Polaroid piece on top. I have no clue what these are valued at and am having a hard time identifying the piece as a whole. Also, I am having hard time loading pics for you all on here... I obviously need a lot of help! Any and all advice or direction is very much appreciated! Thank you!

Re: Olympus Vanox
What Vanox is it, the old mechanical AH or the more modern electronic AH2?
Re: Olympus Vanox
Your best bet for determining value might be "sold" Ebay listings.
While these are capable microscopes, they don't bring much these days to to their age, complexity, and weight. A newer Olympus BH2 will have newer optics, a wider field of view in the standard heads, and offer the same sort of options. You might, however, have some accessories that will sell well.
My personal preference is for the older Vanox (AH) without all that "modern" automation and dedicated controls (AH2) for 35mm film photography.
Ebay - or perhaps here - is likely the best place to sell accessories. Given the weight, the main stand might best sell locally.

I am not sure, hence my appreciating in advance your patience with my lack of knowledge in this area! I would say that it is the old mechanical kind. I do not see any sort of electronics like in some if the google/ebay/everywhere pics I've seen.viktor j nilsson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 8:16 amWhat Vanox is it, the old mechanical AH or the more modern electronic AH2?

Hope you can post them! It can be a little tricky to resize images, especially if you're on the phone. I sometimes post images on imgur.com and put the direct image paths inside [img] tags. Imgur has made it a little harder to find the direct link to the .jpg's, but some right clicking should reveal the right address.
I have one of the old Vanox AH, and it's a very solid microscope. A little dated, and not very highly sought after, as PeteM says. If there are some interesting accessories I am always tempted and willing to pay fair (as in not the fantasy prices some eBay sellers put on things), especially if you are in Europe. Where are you located?
