Swift Objective Lens Question

#1 Post by hepster » Tue Dec 01, 2020 5:55 pm

I am considering purchasing a Swift microscope with a 4xD, a 10xD, a 40xRD, and a 100xRD (oil) objective. Can someone kindly tell my what the D and RD mean? Thanks in advance.

I would think D is for DIN and RD is for Retractable DIN. Retractable in that the tip will retract into the barrel when the tip touches the slide.

The Swift objectives that were supplied out of Japan at one time actually had D.I.N. painted on the barrels. I suspect Charles is correct . They just abbreviated.
