Newbie image attempt

#1 Post by jimur » Sun Jun 11, 2017 9:46 pm

While trying to fine tune a diy adapter tube for a recently acquired trinocular head in hopes of capturing better images I found what I think to be a rotifer of sorts but haven't been able to confirm yet. Not a stacked photo but still disappointed with the results thus far.

Hello jimur,
Don't be disappointed with this my friend, it's a very nice image. I'd say you're off to a good start. Keep it up, looking forward to more.

Great start! Nice image for not being stacked! Also, these rotifers move a lot and can be hard to get without motion blur. I believe what you have is "Lecane (Monostyla) Quadridentata". Around 100 µm in size, so I wonder if you have measured it correct?

Thanks for the kind words and info. Most likely beginner's luck. My diy photo tube is still not quite parfocal. It's very close but a little touch up machining on the length should bring it in nicely. I think the addition of flocking or paint on some of the inner surfaces might help the image also. ?? Thanks to hkv for noticing the scale error. I did in fact miscalibrate the scale. (more rookie mistakes) But hey, one must crack a few eggs to make omelettes and I'm here to learn. Thanks again guys.
