Paramecium Conjugation ???

#1 Post by vendav » Thu Jun 29, 2017 10:06 am

Hi All,

This is my first image through the microscope. I have not yet set up a proper system using camera and photoport, but when I saw this I took a couple of quick shots with a handheld iPhone through an ocular.
Would anybody be kind enough to confirm (or otherwise) that this is an example of Paramecium conjugation?

Thank you,
David

Sure looks like Paramecium bursaria conjugation to me, but I'm no expert. I just did a Google search for "paramecium bursaria conjugation" and looked at the images. I am pretty sure this is Paramecium bursaria, an organism I've seen many times. Very nice pics by the way.

Thank for your helpful reply and an equally useful link.
Thanks too for the encouraging comment about my first ever pics; I hope to do better when I have the camera set up, but this forum sets a very high bar.
