Ok, I have a Zeiss Universal, but missing some necessary parts. I need a way to connect an objective to the dovetail on the bottom of the beam splitter. Is there just one part I need to connect it all together, or are there several? At this point, either a single objective, or a whole turret would be fine. If someone knows the names of the parts, it would be most helpful. I am attaching a photo of the dovetail where I need to connect.

Thanks!!!

Just in case you do not have the link to several of the Zeiss manuals: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=773

That is a picture of the bottom of the Optovar, which accepts the different varieties of objective turrets. The optovar will give you different magnifications (1X-2X) and has a built in bertrand lens labelled Ph. There are a variety of different objective turret options with the most common being the one which holds five objectives like this one here on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/A8705-CARL-ZEIS ... SwDiBZNbPq
There are single objective holders, which are less common and there are incidental objective turrets like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zeiss-POL-Verti ... Sw6YtZP1qn and there are a variety of others like for Fluoro and EpiPol.
These all slide onto and secure onto the optovar.

Note: The first ebay listing (http://www.ebay.com/itm/A8702-CARL-ZEIS ... SwfpVZNbHj) was actually mislabelled by the ebay seller and was a turret for the Leitz Ortholux
I have corrected to a different listing for the proper Zeiss turret.

Thank you! very helpful. The low-resolution photos in the manuals combined with the less-than-optimal photos on ebay sometimes make it hard to decide what part I need, especially when I've never seen one in real life. I've ended up with a few parts of unknown function that don't seem to fit anything.

Now I know what I'm looking for!

There are also two types of Zeiss Optovars used on the Universal and Photomicroscopes. The old style and very rare, just has a round dovetail attachment and the newer most common one have the slide on dovetail mount. The two style of turret are shown here:

OK, now I know what to look for. One more question: Do the turrets always have RMS threads, or do they vary depending on the application? Or do they all have M24 threads?

Thanks!!!

Just to show you the variety of objective holders for the Universal/Photomicroscopes:
Here is the RS III head for epifluoro:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZEISS-MICROSCOP ... SwwPhWksVN
An Epi turret which accepts different inserts on the side for different lighting techniques...Pol, Fluoro, Darkfield:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zeiss-POL-Verti ... Sw6YtZP1qn

This is a listing for the older five objective turret with round dovetail...only fits the older optovars:

They make an epi turret which holds the M24 threads. Here is a picture of both:

Very nice. I'm glad to see they are still available. I'll be happy once I get this all put together.
