Another Zeiss Tessovar Question

#1 Post by wstenberg » Sun Mar 11, 2018 5:35 pm

I hope someone knows the answer to this...

The Tessovar manual shows several blocks (they look like wooden blocks) that are color coded to uses as stages for photography. Each one has a different thickness to correspond to the the 4 different lenses on the Tessovar.

Does anyone have the measurements for the blocks? They seem easy enough to make, but the manual doesn't have the dimensions. I'm sure there are no original blocks still available.

Thanks!!!

William,

Enrico Savazzi of the other forum have/had a Tessovar. You may want to ask him as well:

There are four working distances [according to the supplementary in use]

I. 320mm
II. 150mm
III. 75 mm
IV. 36mm

Therefore, if we set focus for (I) on the table
(II) needs a lift of 170mm [320-150]
(III) needs a lift of 245mm [320-75]
(IV) needs a lift of 284mm [320-36]

Q.E.D.

I think the dimensions of the blocks are in relation to the focus stand height the Tessovar is on and the thickness of the sample being used. You could probably make one block with the three different heights and turning the block can change the height of the sample.

Yes indeed, Charles ... That's what Zeiss supplied.

All,

Thank you everyone for the rapid response. Just what I need to make a block. I'll post some photos once I get it done.

Thanks!

It's probably obvious by now, but:

Figure 6 in the linked 'Operating Instructions' is initially rather confusing
... It shows Qty.3 of the block, one in each orientation.

Also, it seems obvious from the colour photo that the 'block' is a 'closed box'.
