Scope recommendation

#1 Post by Jaydekay » Sat Sep 01, 2018 8:45 pm

Greetings,

I am looking for something that I can capture nice quality images in digital form, that I may later print and frame. I'd like to use a TV or monitor while I view the subject matter, so a camera or possibly a mobile phone mounted in some way would be where I'm headed.

I'm at the very beginning of my searching, I am thinking a stereoscope would be the right route because I prefer to see depth in the images. $200-$300 range would be ideal.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Stereo microscopes are a great way to get started -- and you can take good photos through one of the tubes. Understand, however, that your photographed image will be through just one tube and won't have that "stereo" effect. You will get greater depth of field at lower power.

Might also want to do a search on "focus stacking." This is an affordable way to get superb depth of field in photographs, even at higher magnifications.
