Conoscopic

I am trying to attach a Fedorov stage on a Zeiss WL stand. Seem like it should be easy. Everything fits mechanically, but not all at the same time. I'm about an inch short of everything fitting, by the time I add the objective and condenser.

Question: Is there supposed to be a spacer between the base and arm to lift everything up an inch or so?

Any good resources for conoscopic microcroscopy?

Appreciate any advice to help me get started!

As to fitting it on a WL ... not sure that a spacer under the arm would make any difference as I think the focusing block is near full movement already.

Then again you could easily test if it would work by resting the arm on the edge of a book and seeing if that provides more room.

Removing the arm from the base is straight forward, it is only held on by 4 bolts.


I wonder if a GFL might not be better as it is designed to have the arm move rather than the stage.

If you ask I am sure members with one will provide you with the measurements you need to see if the Ferorov stage will fit on it.

Must say that I was rather amused by:

It is a curious fact that the four-axis stage was used almost from the beginning, though it was for some time known as the three-axis stage.

Thanks all for the help and suggestions. I tried it on a GFL stand as suggested (and as shown in the photos) and it seems to fit fine. It probably was designed for the GFL stand.

I have heard of people inserting a machined part into the Standard WL or Universal stand to make it work. It needs about one inch more clearance!

I would like to have it set up so that I can take photographs of the conoscopic images.
