Hi i am getting myself a microscope soon, and since i live in a small home, I will probably place my microscope in my bedroom, which is quite dusty. I am going to be using it for bright-field, and I am worried that there will get dust into the microscopes optics eventually. And I want to avoid sending the microscope to the manufacturer to be cleaned as far as possible.
How much dust is acceptable when using a microscope for bright-field?
Will I be fine as long as i use a dust cover when the microscope is not in use?
What are your experiences with dust and microscopes?
Microscopes and dust
Re: Microscopes and dust
Dust cover will certainly help. I read once that the less one cleans the optics the better. As for external dust on the lenses and condenser use a blower. Here is a site showing the kind I use:

When you do have to clean the optics use lens cleaning tissue and a lens cleaning solution which you should be able to find on the web or at a camera shop.
