XY Coordinate System on a slide

#1 Post by lperepol » Sat Dec 29, 2018 3:05 pm

What is a recommended method of it yourself method to partition of a slide into an XY Coordinate System? Or a method to mark areas on a slide after a sample has been placed on a slide?

You can buy a "locator slide" or "finder slide" slide that has a grid of coordinates ruled on it. To locate a point of interest, your slide is carefully removed from the stage without disturbing the position of the mechanical stage, then the finder slide is mounted on the stage, again carefully so as not to disturb the mechanical stage. Then, the coordinates can be recorded.

These slides are expensive. The least expensive one found in a brief search is sold by Electron Microscopy Sciences in Pennsylvania:

Scrolling down to the Product Information link brings up the catalog entry with price of $95.
