Camera port & (non-microscope) camera setup

#1 Post by _plp_ » Fri Jan 10, 2020 12:22 pm

Hi,

I have an AmScope microscope with a photo port you can slide a 23mm eye piece in.
I want to understand whether/how I can re-use a small camera I have.
The camera has a C mount and and lens.

Should the setup be [port]->[eyepiece]->[camera lens]->[camera] or do I have one extra piece of optics here?

Thanks

If your C-mount camera has an appropriate lens, just focus it on infinity and mount it over the eyepiece
[ this is called afocal imaging ]

Results will depend upon the quality of everything in the system; but can be excellent.
