Protozoa growth chamber
I never knew about such a thing when I was a kid! How cool.

I have the same microscope in a slightly differently configured set. It's not in the best of condition, but it is a good representation of what was a "standard" kid's microscope for the era.

I was also fortunate to have a Gilbert microscope and also a chemistry set in my youth. (Although, like my youth, I didn't do much with them.)

Why certainly!.. I remember the frog that would appear in a puff of smoke.. Listening to horror and drama and westerns on the radio before we had a TV... Living in rented duplex slums and sleeping on the floor on a mattress.. Drinking a bottle of Grapette when we could find a nickle.. Gas was 19.9 a gallon, and having gas wars with the price going down.. TV shut down at night with a prayer and started up in the morning with a test pattern.. We only had three TV stations.. To me it was better times..

Re Musings on the forum content
I visit the forum regularly, to marvel at the amazing expertise displayed, and the advice freely given. Sadly, I fear that my efforts fall short of those standards. How can I improve what I do?
How do they do it? I conclude that it is not from an array of shiny new equipment, with dic, pol, Uncle Tom Cobleigh and all, but through knowing their instruments and what they are capable of. Even the simplest microscopes and camera can give equally impressive results, handled correctly. Two things spring to mind, application and dedication.
I am reminded of the story (apologies if you've heard this before) of the lady tourist in Times Square, who sought directions from a man working at the bottom of a deep hole in the road. "Young man" she shouted down to him, "how do I get to Carnegie Hall?" The man thought for a minute, and then shouted up to her "Lady, ya gotta PRACTICE"

Re: Protozoa growth chamber
Bill, I must be even older than you. We only had one TV station originally and the frog was on the Buster Brown Show along with Midnight the Cat, etc.We only had three TV stations..
We seem to have strayed off topic but Charlie, thanks for the initial post.
