Very cool!! Looks like one of the jumping spiders to me. I'm not a "spiderologist", but have to believe there are many species in this wide-ranging family, probably the world over. They're also a favorite of macro photographers because of their photogenic eyes.

Here's a picture I took of one who appeared right here on my desk just a week ago, while my camera with 100mm macro lens installed just happened to be sitting nearby. I swear the little guy (gal?) was a perfect ham and loved having his picture taken, gave me all the time in the world to get my shots while he mugged it up for the camera. I finally had to shoo him away after I was satisfied, to prevent him getting hurt by some inadvertent move on my part.

He's standing on a store receipt, where the lower case letters are almost 1/16", and I'm putting his leg spread at 1/4". I put together this "wanted poster" in case I need to round him up again.

Jumping spiders are also a favourite for me because they are both small (and therefore not dangerous) and they are inquisitive. Is it just me or do these spiders have personality?

No, it's not just you - they seem for all the world to have very amusing personalities. I know it sounds silly, but I could swear the one I photographed above was really more or less aware of what was going on, had fun interacting with me, and enjoyed posing for the camera. It was like having a little bitty puppy dog.

Fantastic video,gekko...thanks. As Kurts nice jumping spider images show...these creatures are quite observant of our interactions with them.

I have a fondness for spiders...probably because I don't live in Australia where funnel-spiders are a part of human habitations all too often.

I get lost in the content of You Tube...I especially like the audio books I find there. Charlie guevara

Hi Bill,
Must have missed it the first time around, but it's still fascinating.
What a pity that after all that effort Mrs. Spider had a headache!

No, it is fine.. I just thought someone could start this as a new thread.. That way it would gain attention, instead of being hidden by newer posts...

The Best,
