Culturing microalgae on microalgae biomass?

I would like to know if it's possible to grow microalgaes like Spirulina and Chlorella to grow on it's own dead biomass from which oil was extracted, it would save money instead of adding nutrients and minerals everytime. What i want to do is extract oils from algae and use those dead algae as a fertilizer to grow a new culture again, saving new mineral costs.
