Quick and dirty darkfield trick

#1 Post by sleekdigital » Wed Jul 29, 2020 3:11 am

I've been trying to get darkfield with my Swift 380T and I stumbled on to something. I was flipping out the filter holder when I happened to notice a darkfield appear before me. It turns out that the ring of the filter holder is just the right width and when it passed in front of the lamp I got a pretty reasonable darkfield effect (works for 4x and 10x objectives). You can also get a pretty decent oblique effect by moving the ring such that it blocks one side.

Nice pics. I have same scope & I don't think the filters work any better than what you did. :o

Thanks! Have you been able to get darkfield with the 40x objective?

If I remember correctly, couldn't get enough light with 40x. I'll have to try the 20x & see if that works.

What 20x objective do you have? I have been looking for one!
