I recently printed some Rheinberg filters in various color combinations using a color printer and transparency material. Complementary colors such as yellow/violet and orange/blue work very well. I'm very pleased with the results.
However, I can only get it to work well with a 4X or 10X objective. That limits me to a maximum of 200X, using the 10X objective and a 20X eyepiece.
If I switch to a 20X objective, the background no longer appears to be the color of the center of the filter, and the effect is lost.
Has anyone had success with Rheinberg illumination using a 20X or 40X objective? Is it just a matter of making the center spot larger, or is there more to it than that?

Hi, it's a lot like darkfield patches - higher magnifications need larger center spots for the background.
