Illumination recommendation for stereo microscope

#1 Post by solos42 » Fri Feb 02, 2024 7:15 pm

Dear
I bought a second hand stereo microscope. Microscope is Nikon SMZ-U, bottom stand is Optika SZM-2. It has halogen bulb.

However, I could not achieve full clarity in my sample dissection. In my opinion, the light is inadequate. Can I get efficiency if I install an LED lamp in it?

Is it advantageous to buy a system like Pete’s suggested in this forum as follows?

Which part would you recommend using for the table? Flexible plate on the top, frosted glass in the middle, transparent glass at the bottom.
