Member "fonakta" at that forum took some nice photos with the filter. Click on his profile to see his posts and photos.

I think off-set oblique + polarizers partially crossed can give you better images. Good microscope polarizers are not cheap though. The GUF filter is much cheaper and easier to DIY install.

Thanks for the reminder, I had some of these printed out and waiting for me to cut them out and try them for months now. Time to dig them out.
