Not wanting to frequently remove the head on my E600 to place an
analyzer filter for polarization lighting, can I leave it there? I know it
should be oriented front to back, but what affect would it have on
BF, DF, and phase ?
I leave a high quality polarizer on my dslr with no detrimental effects,
but it doesn't magnify 900X either!
If it's optically ok I can hopefuly engineer an internal mount.

Re: Permanent analyzer placement in Nikon Eclipse
There is a recessed space just below the trinocular body that will receive a flat piece of polarizing film without any problem. A single piece of polarizing film is like a neutral density filter and it will reduce the light somewhat, but with 100 watts that will not be a problem for any of your lighting choices. The orientation is inconsequential because the piece of film that you will place atop the illuminator can be rotated as necessary. If you wish you can secure the top filter and mark the orientation so you have a guide. Not wanting to frequently remove the head on my E600 to place an

l did not see that gap, sounds like a path for dust. Thank you very much. Will
investigate it tomorrow. Double Livet's for you!

Just curious as to whether you did find a "gap" and if not where you placed the analyzer.l did not see that gap, sounds like a path for dust.

It was hard to find, very thin, and 4cm wide. Have not found film yet, because I have not looked!
Thanks for asking about it, it was great to find I had another lighting option.
