Smartphone polarizer

Here you can discuss different microscopic techniques and illumination methods, such as Brightfield, Darkfield, Phase Contrast, DIC, Oblique illumination, etc.

Smartphone polarizer

Hi, I just ordered a smartphone polarizer sheet with the idea of using it to add polarization to my Ortholux. Has anyone done anything similar?

Hi Aslan,
I have used circular polarizer foil from 3D cinema glasses. Used in the right orientation one get quite acceptable polarizers.
The quality of a polarizer shows when you look through crossed polarizers: The fewer light passes, the better the polarizer.
Another criterium is the colour of the polarized light: Is it neutral or is there a blue or green hue.
For simple tasks a very mediocre polarizer works though.
