Does anyone know the dimensions of the Zeiss DIC slider, like in the photo below?
(I realize this isn't a DIC slider, but I am imagining something like this to fit in a slot behind the objective.)
I don't have one to measure...

Yours looks like a more modern version of mine.

Anyway measurements are:

Width: 14mm
Height: 3.5mm
Length: 40mm (did not include the screw)

I vaguely recall 16mm wide for the wave plate shown, but don't have much Zeiss equipment. However, since you have the aperture, just measuring it and then inquiring of the seller would surely get (or rule out) a match?

FWIW, I've had some luck machining U-channels to fit smaller components into larger slots.

I don't want to buy the lambda plate. I'm thinking of machining a plate out of aluminum.

This is for my DIY Lightsheet illumination project. I need to put a patterned screen in the rear focal plane of the objective. I thought this might be the easiest way.

If you're planning to adapt multiple objectives, something like the carcass from an Olympus MPlan DIC prism (minus the prism) could be an option? I've seen these as low as $10 and have a few myself:

The problem with both these and your part is with finite systems, they extend the tube length. With infinite objectives, not so much of an issue?

You can also buy parfocal extenders, possibly adding less to the tube length.

That might work. Parfocality is not a concern. This objective will end up as part of the illuminating system. I could probably use any brand of objective- it just needs to be about 10-15x with long working distance, and RMS threads. I'll shop through eBay to try to find something suitable. The will be used to focus the light pattern onto the specimen.
In the light sheet design, the illuminating and imaging light both focus on the same point, kind of the opposite of Koehler illumination.
