I bought the bulb that gekko recommended and received it today --it works wonderfully!!

Next may be me finding a way to photograph my finds. I have a Canon s 110 --My mother has a Canon EOS rebel T4i that I can borrow a few times per year. I will look in the other topics in this forum on photography.

I'll also update you on how my autistic nephew and my microscope interact when he's visiting --if you'd like that.

That is great that you got your microscope illumination working again. If I were you, I would experiment with the Canon S 110 by holding looking into the eyepiece and taking the picture. You need to experiment with the distance between camera and eyepiece to get the widest field of view. rnabholz often uses his smartphone camera and gets exceptionally beautiful images. I've seen superb images on other forums taken with compact (point-&-shoot) cameras through the eyepiece. Do let us know how your nephew interacts with the microscope.
