Introducing myself.

#1 Post by Seamer » Tue Apr 11, 2017 1:03 pm

Hi.

My name is David Seamer and I am interested in freshwater protists (algae and protozoa) and I currently live in Australia.

I first discovered microscopic pond life life when in high school (New Zealand -1963) and for me it has been a fascination ever since.
I take delight in collecting, identifying and drawing freshwater protists.

Although I have dabbled in photo-microscopy I enjoy drawing from life, directly from the microscope and have a collection of more than 1300 drawings. Although I am now over 70, my fascination for freshwater microscopic life continues.

Welcome, David ('gudday' might I say?!). Great you sketch your observed freshwater protists and meiofauna.

Here in finger lakes/US I enjoy freshwater microscopy...funny through..the water bears, rotifers, and protists are indeed in our tree limb mosses.

It would be great to see your bench and setup for drawing our neighbor wee beasties. What sort of scope do you use..with a drawing attachment..or just with your craft honed hands as you observe the subjects?

all the best, charlie guevara

Welcome to the forum! I looked at your work over on the Facebook microscopy page and I really like your drawings. I did the same back in 8th grade or thereabouts; your drawings are much better! :) I look forward to seeing more of them!
