What is your microscopy history? What are your interests? What equipment do you use?

Hello,
My name is Jed, and I'm just a hobbyist. I've got a bachelor's in biology that's pretty useless job-wise, an irrelevant, mindless job, a li'l extra space, a li'l extra money, a li'l bit of equipment, and a lot of love for microscopy, and so that has brought me here looking for some guidance. Basically, I'm just looking to explore, find ways to challenge myself and grow at home within my budget, and generally celebrate biology throughout my life even if I don't have the privilege of working in it.

Welcome to the forum, Jed!

You know many postdoctoral fellows still find their "degrees" useless nowadays. So don't feel bad; you saved more time

Welcome!!! I have several friends with Biology degrees in a similar situation. It is unfortunate. You will most definitely be able to use your knowledge here.

Hi Jed,
welcome to the forum!
I feel it is a priviledge to do something just as a hobby. When I want to spent time on a topic I don't have to get permission from my boss and don't have to prove that there is a profit in it. So in your case you might be able to use you knowledge as well in hobby microscopy as in a biology related job where you do the same stuff day in day out. Combine this with a job that cares for your other needs and you will be happy.

Bob
