Ronnie says hi

#1 Post by Mintaka » Sun Mar 29, 2015 7:57 am

Greetings fellow connoisseurs of the minute,

My name is Ronnie and I live in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. I've fallen into the habit of looking at small things about five years ago, and ever since some sort of magnifying device has always been within reach. I'd love to learn more about the fascinating critters that regularly present themselves at the business end of my humble peeking devices.

My dream is to find a tardigrade, or water bear: a creature that has been eluding me and my moss infusions for a long time. I have in fact reached the stage where I have my doubts that such unlikely creatures actually exist, and any reassurances that the tantalizing pictures and articles available on the web are not just the machinations of an evil plot to get one's hopes up, would be much appreciated.

Glad I found this forum and looking forward to adding my 2c.

Ronnie

Welcome! This is a great community, with lots of knowledgeable and helpful folks, I think you will fit right in here.
Regarding tardigrades, they continue to elude me also. Some folks seem to find them in every drop of water they examine. I have managed only to find bit and pieces of them in my samples. Maybe some day....
