Hello y hola from Austin, Texas, USA

As the moniker says, I'm an old retired lab rat. I spent the first thirty years of my working life in numerous engineering fields and the last two dozen years as the senior research technician for a university research institute. In that time I have worked with and repaired microscopes ranging from old mirror illuminated student microscopes through Amray SEMs. However, one thing that I am not is an expert on that subject or any other. By choice, I am a "generalist" with skills in electronics, physics, material science and mechanics, in numerous forms. Of recent, I find that I fix more toasters and washing machines than lasers and complex research equipment. I stumbled across this forum while exploring cheap ways to micro-focus an ultraviolet light source, (probably a laser diode). So, I'm pleased to be here, but, probably can provide more questions than answers to questions.

Howdy; Wstenberg! I have wanted, for a long time, to build a 'one-off' electronic circuitboard printer. I describe it over on the "Off Topic" forum. My biggest issue is doing it on the cheap!
