Astrophotographer getting into Microphotography

#1 Post by ivan » Wed Jul 08, 2020 2:06 am

Hi Everyone,

Greetings from Singapore!

I have just gotten into microscopy with the main goal of photography, and just purchased my first microscope last week. I have been into deep sky astrophotography for nearly a decade, and so I am familiar with handling optical systems in that regard. However, due to the weather dependency of astronomy, I decided that I would like to dabble in something that wasn't subject to the whims of the weather gods. Microscopy seemed natural, and I ordered an Amscope T720 which came with infinity plan objectives and koehler illumination (which seemed to be great for photographic purposes).

Here's one of my first works, which was on the venerable onion cell. I did a timelapse of cytoplasmic streaming (mostly on onion, with one clip showing mimosa chloroplasts), which I was inspired to do after watching Oliver's videos:

Equipment: Amscope T720, 40x and 100x objectives, ToupTek LCMOS05100KPA Camera
