Really nicely-done! I've been following along this interesting thread and must say your 'scope looks mighty-fine in that last image.

haha thank you, but I'm not done yet
I bought a 3D Printer, a Kingroon KP3S, excellent quality/price ratio, small, cute, but large enough for my need (it print 18x18x18cm max).
I'll still planning to use that busted Trinocular port and I'm experimenting various mount and technique to make the phototube.
and also making toy for fun

A 3d printer is the ultimate tool for making camera to microacope adaptera. This will make it easy.

I sent back my bench power supply, twice. Ordered a 3rd, from a different brand this time.

I gave up on the idea of a full length phototube :
- pro : higher field of view for my tiny sensor
- con : it's out of focus, I can't have a clear view of the sample on both the ocular and camera at the same time.
I used a M35 threading and it fit nicely-ish enough. (it doesn't look like the thread truly is M35, it seems to have non-metric pitch)
(And yes, surprisingly enough, even a low cost 3d printer is able to print thread. I also printed a c-mount without much trouble)
I'll probably build an extender. Considering the cost of making this, it doesn't matter much.
It used 17g of PLA (0.41euro) and printed in 1h37mn.
If you count labor cost, and excluding anything else like shipping, R&D, the cost of the printer, etc : that would make it a 25 euro piece.
Yes, PLA is very cheap. (I count 25e/kg but you can get some for less)
The highest cost would come from the R&D labor cost, I have a nice box of discarded (not failed) tube & test as I am learning how to design (CAD) and print.
I truly failed only 1 print so far but it was a mistake on my side. (google "3d printer spaghetti")
PS : the tube is rigid and strong, it would require great effort to break it by hand, and I only used a weak 10% infill (saving on printing time). with a 100% infill it would be impossible to break without tool

For a longer term part you might want to consider petg. Pla is strong enough but over lkng periods can flow under pressure.

ho yeah i forgot to mention that I received my new new new PSU today as the 2 other one where defective.
So I changed brand and got a Eventek 0-30V 0-10A DC

A quick video, the fps drop is caused by the computer I used. I recycled one of my old laptop but it can't handle OBS apparently.

About dark field, I checked the manual, and of course it's at the worst place.
This microscope have tons of module, for dark field, phase contrast, interference contrast, fluorescence, even laser ...
You can insert module on top of the microscope (eg : fluorescence, reflected light), or below (eg : dark field, pass contrast)
The module on the low side insert like a cartridge from the side.
OF COURSE, I don't have any of this.
(top : without module, bottom : with module)
So I have to build the cartridge-like module, without any plan or idea or what it's supposed to look like.

I need to build some kind of adjustable filter holder so I don't have to reprint the whole plate every time.
I hope you can tell just from the picture that it's going to be a massive PITA, because it is.

That place seems like an elegant place to put filters if you are a producer that wants to make nice, ready made filter inserts.
But are you sure that it is really the only place you can place those filters?
The requirement is that a darkfield stop should be placed at a plane that is conjugate with the front focal plane of the condenser (which, in turn, is conjugate to the back focal plane of the objective). Your location under the microscope is maybe one plane that is conjugate with the front focal plane of the condenser. But I don't see why you couldn't place your darkfield filter at the actual front focal plane of the condenser, i.e. as close to the condenser aperture, where most DIY users tends to place them.
Have you tried placing something (like a needle) just below your condenser and looked through a phase telescope to see if you can see the needle sharply in focus at the objective back focal plane?

The thing is, as odd as it may look like, the diaphragm you see on the picture IS the aperture diaphragm
When I do the focus with the Bertrand lens, this is the one I see.
The place you see on the picture is between the field diaphragm and the aperture diaphragm.
I have a filter holder between the aperture diaphragm and the lighthouse (with ND/IR/Blue filter). I tried putting a dark field filter here without much success.
I can try again, perhaps I did something wrong
