LED Retrofit of my Laborlux 12
Re: LED Retrofit of my Laborlux 12
no this particular model was from another company that I have not seen on e-bay since I purchased it. I sold the scope 2 years ago to a local laboratory.
Re: LED Retrofit of my Laborlux 12
Thanks anyway!!

Hi,
May I suggest you PM member "mrsonchus".. I think he has a Laborlux that for a while had a LED conversion..
If you can't use the PM feature, contact him directly on the forum.. He is a very outgoing and kind person.. I am sure he will help all he can..

@clipi
I have re-checked the RetroDiode site and IMO the Laborlux 12 is on their list. Fernald Stanton is helpful and very cooperative. I would also inquire whether the LED they supply is powerful enough for this large scope, including darkfield. There are two dimmer options.

Thanks Hobbyst46
What power in lumens do you think would be enough to power the Laborlux?

Sorry, I do not know, and I am not familiar with Leitz.clipi wrote:Thanks Hobbyst46

I am using a 10W LED from the same maker (I never checked the nominal luminous flux) on a relatively small microscope, and it is extremely bright.
I think that that maker can provide 20W LEDs to order. But Laborlux experts around this forum should know. And if you are keen about darkfield, a high illumination intensity is a must.
Re: LED Retrofit of my Laborlux 12
The laborlux 12 came with a 20W lamphouse as std equipment which I found to be quite adequate for darkfield/polarized light. Although I generally used the lower mag objectives. You could also get a 50W or 100W lamphouse.
The LED system I had on this particular Laborlux was quite bright. A 28W halogen is equivalent to about a 6W led. Retrofit uses 10w LED's which should be more than sufficient.

@clipi
Please bear in mind that there are cool white, natural white, warm white LEDs. And that the digital camera is especially sensitive to blue light (which is a major component of cool white light).

I use a Canon T3I and it allows you to select the light source and adjusts accordingly. Just an FYI.Hobbyst46 wrote:@clipi
