Help identifying my Nikon Microscope

#1 Post by nick1911 » Fri Sep 18, 2020 4:19 pm

Hello everyone!

My name is Nick. While it's been a long time since I had biology class, I've recently got myself setup with a Nikon microscope acquired from a veterinarian who was retiring. My intended use it to preform fecal flotation tests and perhaps dabble in some blood work with a hemocytometer for our livestock and pets. I'm sure other uses will present themselves.

I want to get an owners manual for my "new" microscope so I can familiarize myself with it's operation and care. However, I can't find a model number anywhere on this unit. If anyone can provide me with some information on what model this scope is, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi nick1911
That’s one of the variations of the CL “classic’ school microscope-basically an educational version of the Nikon S-couldn’t find a manual online-main thing to check is if the fine focus works well. They had a nylon cog that tended to crack-look for Nikon S manual and it’s gonna cover most of your scope-can easily up grade this with different optics or dark field or even phase objective and turret.
Here’s a link to how to repair the fine focus-fair bit of work but I’ve used an S with a busted fine focus and just used course focus-gets a bit tricky once you get up to 40x objective. ... nikon.html

Thanks so much for the information. That gives me a great place to start searching, and good info about the fine focus. The fine focus on mine still seems okay.

Appreciate the info! :)
