Camera Setup with 160mm microscope

So if there is a camera set up like this, is it correct to think that 1) there doesn't need to be a relay lens and 2) the camera is seeing an inverted image of what a c-mount camera much closer to the bottom would see?

If the focus plane is just above the trinocular camera mount, it seems like there has to be a relay lens to get it working much higher up and away from the where a c-mount would go.
