The answer is..... Yes it does.
And how do I know this? I bought one.

Is that an old microscope ? if not, and if the only way of knowing whether it can move up and down is to buy one and try, that says something about the post-purchase support and customer service... and documentation of the microscope...

It's a new model and I bought one and it does go up and down.
I was able to download the manual from Microscope.com and it said that it does.
