Hi
I think I posted this already in the wrong place on he forum so I've posted it again here. Apologies.
I have an old Leitz SM Lux with a binocular head. The light bulb is a small round bayonet fit 6V 10W halogen. I can't seem to find one anywhere. Does anyone know where I can source these or find an alternative way of illumination. I've seen an LED conversion but would rather keep the halogen setup as original.
I'm ok working with electrical and electronic stuff but don't know how critical the bulb filament position etc is for good illumination.

Help! I Need to source a bulb for my Leitz SM Lux
Re: Help! I Need to source a bulb for my Leitz SM Lux
Do you have a part number?
There are a few bulbs here:
https://www.morrellonline.com/store/c20 ... Bulbs.html
I have a similar but POL scope with a 6V 10W bulb...
Tried ebay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6V-10W-Repla ... Sw8xJeLJmF
Those aren't bayonet, though. I must check mine.

Thanks for the reply
I've posted a photo of the holder and bulb below. There are later versions of the SM Lux than mine which use a much larger bayonet bulb. A later version still uses the plug in G4 type halogen lamp. I still haven'tr foiund the one mine uses. Looking at how to convert it to the readilly available G4 type.
Regards

Re: Help! I Need to source a bulb for my Leitz SM Lux
Hi, that's the same as the one in my old SM-LUX,
One of these, did the job beautifully - the bulb's diameter was about 0.5mm greater on the replacement and fitted the SM-LUX absolutely fine....
Just a std (small of course) bayonette...
I'd be pleased to post a couple to you if you pm me your address - just pay the post - the bulbs gratis.

Re: Help! I Need to source a bulb for my Leitz SM Lux
Only just bought my SM-Lux but I found a BA 15S 6v 10w bulb works fine, in that the brightness can be adjusted. This is unlike a LED bulb a I sourced, which is OK but a constant bright light, not adjustable.
