It's an old make, old style stereo, but Leitz stereos havw a very good reputation. If you don't need a continuous zoom they are a great value. This one looks very dusty though, and I would worry about mold on the optics.

this is a Leitz Großfeld Stereomikroskop TS from the 1970s. It usually is equipped with 24mm eyepieces. The 1x objective pair is invisible inside the stereo microscope body. The column is spring loaded and extends to be used with the shown very useful transmitted light table. The 1x objective has a very high n.a. of 0,05 and the image is especially crisp. The stronger objectives have increasingly normal apertures and the 10x n.a. 0,1 only gives a good but unspectacular view. But the TS still is probably one of the best resolving cheaper stereo microscopes. Also I don't know of any special maladies, only frequently heavy use due to good usability. And imagine you were the specimen and someone were looking down at you through such an objective pair - wouldn't you give your very best?
I like mine a lot. And 24mm field of view- nice!

,In the middle of the rush to go to consign the value of the equipment, I do not even know what I read.
Thanks to your recommendation I already bought it but I think it arrives on Friday.

The Leitz stereo scope finally arrived.
It is a very nice and robust equipment but it is also very dirty, the optics are fine, well at least it is without fungus, but very very full of dust.
I have already disassembled enough of it, but there is still a long way to go.
Let the fun begin!

Updated. Still much to do...

Today I finally got to the prisms...no fungus or mold, the optics are impeccable.
Tomorrow to assemble and put it all together.

Looks nice. Seeing the results of someone else cleaning all the dirt and grime off an old, high-quality microscope is almost as satisfying as doing it yourself, but much less time-consuming.

Thank you very much for your interest.
The truth is that I am leaving it very nice and clean. Fortunately the optics are in perfect condition and that encouraged me even more to make an effort to leave it shining... today I had some fun installing the 1x magnification elements.
And tomorrow I'll finish the rest....and see how it looks and work.

It was a real fun, a pleasure and a good fortune that this beautiful German engineered optical instrument crossed my hands.
I tried my best...Smooth and shiny and giving me some rather pleasant images.

Wow congratulation! That is quite a transformation from the former flying dutchman to this beauty. I'm sure you will enjoy the instrument. They look a bit stange and intimidating compared to the slicker look of more modern instruments but they can top the performance of many of them. And they tend to wear well.

It is a clamp to place lights and it can be moved around the silver ring where you want to direct the lighting. But I have one drawback, and that is that I have not yet been able to perfectly collimate one of the prisms.

The two light pathes have an included angle of 15° on this scope. So for photography it is useful to have an angled base with 7,5° included angle. I have made one of these with the 3D-printer but a pencil and CD cover will do. The objectives have some potential for photography as the apertures are not too low. They are not fully plan though.

I understand what you want to explain. I did some research and Leitz has a mechanism that allows you to vascularize the equipment in order to be able to take the picture with the necessary plane correction.
Although if it would be possible for you to send an image of the project you are talking about it would be nice to try to implement it.

You are right, this is a special feature that is not available on all stands on the market. By tilting sideways by 7.5°one of the optical axes is vertical to the base. My stand doesn't have this feature.
The angle plate I designed has an included angle of 7,5°, a hole in the middle and an optional bar to keep things from moving downward. I don't do much photography in this magnification range but it works nicely.

That is a beautifully restored instrument. If my eyes are not deceiving me, it looks like there is a yellow band at the field stop. Compensating eyepieces, which implies something about the objective corrections. They might be at the very least, fluorite types.

At least I was able to rescue it, it was in a cellar, it helped that this cellar was near a volcanic area, a very dry and arid region and the optics were very safe from humidity and very dry .
very interesting your technical appreciation.
Quite possibly since the images are very sharp and contrasted, images are very impressive.I have a mitutoyo finescope microscope with Mplan apo 5x objective and they are at the height of those objectives, maybe not so much in terms of saturated colors that the Mitutoyos produce, but they have an expectacular contrast.
On the other hand when I took the picture the prisms were quite misaligned, yesterday I spent more than 5 hours trying to collimate it, it was a real question of patience, I have already aligned other Leitz heads, almost all my equipment are Leitz, but this was another world, I could not center the two images ...but successfully I did it!!!!
This morning I went hunting and caught jumping spiders, which I will photograph this afternoon. It might be possible for you to look at them and let me know what you think.
