I'm trying to better understand the 160mm biological optics which are available out there. I feel like I have a solid grasp of Olympus and Nikon's offerings (and I have catalogs of their biological objectives) but Zeiss is still a bit confusing for me. There seem to be a few different flavors/eras floating around and comparably less information. I've found the original Nikon and Olympus catalogs to be the best resource for figuring out what their systems are all about, but the only Zeiss catalog I've found is the "ZeissOpticalSystems.pdf" catalog. I see a lot of objectives on eBay which don't match what I see in the catalog - like black sheathed achromats labelled as Zeiss - West Germany. And then there's the Zeiss Jena stuff as well.
Does anyone have any additional catalogs for Zeiss? Also any general information would be appreciated. I've heard some/many of Zeiss' more advanced objectives are susceptible to delamination but I don't know if that's specific to certain families/generations.

.
This has some information on the newer Zeiss West 160 objectives.
It is in German and unfortunately not a true PDF, so if you need to use a translator you will not be able to copy paste but will need to type everything out.

Cool, thanks for providing that - nice to at least see something full color from Zeiss!75RR wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 8:10 pm.

Re: Looking for Zeiss 160mm Information
There are a ton of links in the forum to zeiss 160 info, brochures literature etc. Just need to dig a bit.

If you are researching vintage-era optics, don't neglect Leitz--second to none!
