Optics on Olympus CX23

#1 Post by Methylene Blue » Sat Mar 12, 2022 8:30 am

I'm recently thinking to upgrade my microscope from to a CX23 however there is not much information on the internet on the microscope's optic. If anyone has used the CX23 or have it, it would be great if you can tell me is it good or take a picture the image. Thank you :D

I have a CX23 and the optics are OK. They are Plan Achromats so not very advanced, but still good for general use. I would say the objectives are well inline with higher quality Chinese microscopes such as Motic etc. I have the model with Trinocular head which is good if you want to connect a camera. The same camera setup as for BX-series can be used. The ports are identical. Also, it is good to buy the extra Darkfield stop and holder if you want to get pretty images beyond brightfield. You will not be able to run phase contrast or DIC with this microscope so you are limited to brightfield and Darkfield. With some tricks you may be able to add a polariser at least.
