Maybe a hardness tester of some sort, or a measurescope.

That is a very beautiful Ernst Leitz Wetzlar microscope. That flat round object under the eyepiece with a knob on it should have a rotating disc inside that moves when you turn the knob to adjust the degree or angle of polarization .
It's a winner and it's rare. Could be worth real money.
Wetzlar was a Nobel prize winner and the inventor of the electron microscope.

Typically these leitz industrial scopes aren't insanely valuable. They're specialized and usually extremely heavy. Not easy to collect a bunch of them. With some mods the stabd could make an excellent basis for high mag photography though. The x y stage is nice.

Say what?!? The electron microscope was invented by Ernst Ruska. Wetzlar is a city in Germany.Greg Howald wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 3:55 amWetzlar was a Nobel prize winner and the inventor of the electron microscope.

So I noticed. Some search engines just can't be trusted anymore.
