Zeiss finite objectives working distances
I came across this information somewhere at some time, only I did not bookmark the page.
Can't find it now. Anyone have this information?

Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
What objectives specifically? I have an old Zeiss booklet that lists many, for example:
................................. Cat. No. Working dist.
Achromat.......40x/0.65...46 07 00...0.47 mm
Planachromat..40x/0.65...46 07 10...0.7 mm
Neofluar........40x/0.75...46 06 20...0.33 mm
... and so on. I may be able to find the information for the ones you are interested in, especially if you have the catalog numbers (may be written on the barrel-- I don't remember).

Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
Thanks gekko,
specifically: I just picked up a Planapo 63/1.4 160/-
Would also like to have a comprehensive list (to ponder over) if there is one.
Be great if you could scan the page. Save you a lot of typing ;)
STOP PRESS!!!
Your reference to an "Old Zeiss Booklet" got me searching through some Old PDFs of some "Old Zeiss Booklets"
Found the info in one that I had assumed was Zeiss Universal specific. (Have a reading backlog on downloaded stuff)

Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
Thanks for the PDF file. I will try to scan relevant parts of the booklet that I have and will send it to you (and to anyone else who might be interested-- PM me please; please give me a few days...)
Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
Thanks gekko.
If you let know the name of your booklet I will have a look through the pdfs I have accumulated.
One never knows, it just might be there.
Planapo 63/1.4 160/-
0.09 mm Working Distance!
Talk about jumping in at the deep end.

Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
The booklet is called Optical Systems for the Microscope. Yes, large apertures go with short working distances (otherwise the front element will have to be huge and exorbitantly expensive!) Let me know if you don't find it.
Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
No luck with Optical Systems for the Microscope
The pdf I linked to has most of the "older" ones.
It is possible that both book/pamphlet cover the same objectives.
Do not want to put you to any work if that is the case.

Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
Did not find the booklet but did find a little info on it.
Optical Systems for the Microscope - Paperback – 1965
by Carl Zeiss (Editor)
Given the date I imagine that it covers the same objectives.
Available second hand at amazon if anyone wants to purchase a copy.

Anyone have working distances on newer objectives, F Achromats for example?

Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
Yes, that's it. I'll compare the list of objectives in the booklet with that in the PDF file you posted and if both are the same, I won't bother. Otherwise I'll post what is not included in the PDF.
Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
75RR, I may be hallucinating, but I thought that you asked also about F Achromats? (I don't see that you did here. In any case all I could find was that the F stood for Flat field, so it appears they are equivalent to Plan Achromats. Sorry if (as is likely) I'm answering a question that no one asked...
Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
Hi gekko,
I did ask about the working distance of F Achromats as they are not in my (1974) pdf price list nor I suspect in your (1965) booklet.
They are more modern.
From what I gather they are a sort of Semi-Plan.
I am asking because my fix-it man is offering me all sorts of objectives. (Both old and newer)
Just want to know what I am getting into if I buy them.

Re: Zeiss finite objectives working distances
Lacking accurate information, my guess would be that as a rough guide, if the NA of the F achromat is the same as that of the corresponding (same power) achromat, it would have a similar (but not necessarily identical) working distance (a long-working-distance objective would normally have a lower NA than a 'regular"-working-distance one).
