A camera microscope ?

#1 Post by theNEWT » Wed Jul 26, 2017 5:26 am

This is not a microscope, but it works in a similar manner. I have found it easier to take photographs of spider palps directly via camera than through my Nikon SMZ-1. See my basic rig attached, its a bit primitive but does the job. I prepare the spider palp or other part under the SMZ and once attached to a microscope slide in the correct orientation I slide it into the slit on the side of the tube. The lens is a 24mm Nikkor reversed with lots of extension tubes and bellows. It is limited though as palps under 1mm long start to lack detail. I stack images for improved DOF. This was the first prototype, I have since altered it a little.

You should feel right at home in the macro section of the photomacrography forum: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/
Zeiss Standard WL (somewhat fashion challenged) & Wild M8
Olympus E-P2 (Micro Four Thirds Camera)
