I'm hoping to fix up a Nikon Labophot which has a broken helical gear in the condenser rack assembly.
It's just a tiny plastic molded helical gear molded on a shaft -- that came to me in two pieces. One would think there might be some versions properly made of brass?
Any suggestions, other than hoping for a carcass off Ebay? I'm hoping there's a dealer somewhere -- this looks like a part that might have broken frequently. FWIW, the actual focus assembly on these scopes looks pretty decent.
Any dealers still have Nikon Labophot parts?
Re: Any dealers still have Nikon Labophot parts?
Pete,
I emailed a microscopist named DJ for you. If he has one to sell you, I will let you know his full name and contacts. His price is very reasonable.
Also please try to contact the following microscopists yourself:
1) Mike
https://lavinia.as.arizona.edu/~mtuell/
and
2) Curt:
http://stores.ebay.com/curt3456?_trksid=p2047675.l2563
All of those guys know Labophot/Optiphot very well and have some parts for good prices. I can suggest two Nikon dealers, but try the above ones first and report back here.
