Grease for bi-pin contacts of halogen bulbs?

#1 Post by PeteM » Sun Nov 12, 2017 5:01 am

I have several scopes with erratic contact between the bulb and socket. Typically 6v or 12v halogen bulbs.

Cleaning the pins and the sockets helps, but problems sometimes reappear. I'm wondering if anyone has had success using a dielectric silicon grease or maybe even a tiny dab of a conductive grease??

The extreme heat these things see in operation greatly accelerates their oxidation. I think something like Dow DC4 could work here, but I'm not sure what it's upper temperature rating is.
